Oral Surgery for Periodontal Care

At The Mugford Center

Surgical expertise with comfort in mind.

In some cases, gum disease or bone loss may require more advanced surgical intervention. At The Mugford Center, we perform a variety of oral surgeries on-site, using the latest technology and techniques to ensure precision and comfort.
  • These may include:
  • Bone grafting to rebuild lost bone
  • Soft tissue grafting for gum recession
  • Ridge augmentation
  • Surgical extractions
  • Dentoalveolar Trauma
  • Oral Pathology
  • Frenectomies
  • Sinus lifts to support dental implants

Our doctors are board-certified periodontists with extensive surgical training so you can feel confident knowing your care is in expert hands.

Having your oral surgery done by the same specialists who manage your periodontal care means nobody hands your case off to a stranger halfway through. At The Mugford Center it happens in their own Crofton facility: periodontists with extensive surgical training, their own imaging, their own surgical setup.

The range covers what you would expect and a fair bit more. Surgical extractions, including teeth too broken or too impacted to come out simply. Bone grafting and ridge augmentation to rebuild a jaw that has thinned after tooth loss. Sinus lifts, which create the vertical room that upper implants need when the sinus has dropped into the space. Soft tissue grafting where gums have receded. Frenectomies, oral pathology, and dentoalveolar trauma, meaning injury to teeth and the bone holding them.

Two of the procedures here are genuinely uncommon in a periodontal practice. MARPE, or Miniscrew Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion, anchors an expander on small temporary screws to widen the upper jaw without traditional jaw surgery, which can improve bite alignment and, for some patients, breathing. Wilckodontics combines selective bone activation with braces or aligners to speed tooth movement, often cutting orthodontic treatment time close to half.

Sedation comes up again and again in the reviews. One patient put it plainly: “I was sedated and didn’t feel a thing.” Another said she fell asleep during the procedure.

The pre and post op instructions are published openly on the site, so you can read exactly what recovery involves before committing to anything, rather than finding out after.

What our patients say…

The team here is amazing. I knew going in that I needed some heavy work done and was a little embarrassed. Very quickly I knew they were there to help resolve any issues that I had going on and any that may come up.

Dr. Bruce made me feel comfortable and handled my surgery perfectly and felt no discomfort and has some great assistants, Kelsey, Kristin, and Emily made the experience laughable and honest. Thank you to the team here and look forward to a future journey of a healthy mouth. Would give 6 starts if I could.
