David Mugford, DMD earned his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School and he received his Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and Dental Implants at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Mugford has been in practice in the Annapolis Area for over 25 years.

Throughout his years in practice, Dr. Mugford has been committed to advancing his skills and knowledge through continuing education. He has trained directly with the most prominent Clinicians and Institutions including: The L.D. Pankey Institute, The Dawson Academy, The Spear Institute, The Pikos Institute, The Chao Pinhole Academy, The Interdisciplinary Dental Education Academy, and Dr. Pat Allen’s Center for Advanced Dental Education. In addition, Dr. Mugford has received advanced training in techniques including: Wilkodontics – Accelerated Orthodontics, Microsurgical and Plastic Surgical Techniques, Pinhole Grafting, All-on-Four Immediate Tooth Replacement, MARPE – Mini-screw Assisted Palatal Expansion, Laser Therapy for Periodontics, and LANAP.

Dr. Mugford has lectured for Dental Groups and Implant Companies on topics such as: Comprehensive Dental Treatment, Implant Therapy in the Esthetic Zone, Periodontal Plastic Surgery, and Treatment for Gum Recession.

Dr. Mugford is a Clinical Director for the Seattle Study Club (A National Leader in Dental Education) and he is the Director of the Triple Crown Study Club and the Triple Crown Hygiene Study Club (both are Seattle Study Club Affiliates). The Triple Crown Study Club is a group of local dentists who are committed to providing quality, comprehensive treatment options for their patients. This group meets monthly at the Mugford Education Center to discuss clinical cases, new techniques and technologies. Dr. Mugford hosts internationally acclaimed speakers to provide unparalleled opportunities for his members to learn directly from these experts. This promotes individual excellence and fosters a strong dental community to benefit patients. The Triple Crown Hygiene Study Club is a group of local hygienists who are passionate about providing the best care for their patients through a curriculum based on State-of-the-Art Advanced Dental Education.

Under the Leadership of Dr. Mugford, a team of Dentists from the Triple Crown Study Club presented and competed in the Seattle Study Club’s International Symposium and won the World Team Treatment Planning Competition in 2014 and 2018.
Dr. Mugford is a member of the American Academy of Periodontics, American Dental Association, the American General Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantology, Pankey, International Society for Periodontic Plastic Surgery and the International Team for Implants.

Dr. Mugford lives in Annapolis with his wife Jody. He has three grown children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, flying, boating, tennis and reading.

John Bruce, DMD earned his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry in 2018 and received his Specialty Certificate and Masters of Periodontology at the University of North Carolina in 2021, where he served as his program’s Chief Resident. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in Physiology & Neurobiology in 2014.

Dr. Bruce has been committed to continued education through his dental training through both local and internationally known organizations. Specifically, he has maintained memberships through the American Academy of Periodontology, International Team for Implantology, Southern Academy of Periodontics, International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons, and Seattle Study Club. Additionally, he has trained directly with Dr. Pat Allen’s Center for Advanced Dental Education and The Dawson Academy.

While in residency, Dr. Bruce has been a part of several different peer-reviewed publications. Topics of these publications include Implant dentistry and Guided Bone Regeneration. Dr. Bruce’s Master’s topic was focused on Inflammatory Pathways Related to Sleep-Disordered Breathing and Periodontal Disease.

Aside from dentistry Dr. Bruce has several other interests. He had the unique experience of assisting a nationally ranked University of Maryland Women’s basketball team as a practice player while in undergraduate studies. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with friends and family, boating, tennis, golf, and supporting University of Maryland Basketball, in particular.

Dr. Bruce is currently living in Annapolis with his wife Elise who is Dr. Mugford’s daughter.
