After dreading it for many years, I finally decided to have Dr. Mugford remove my mandibular tori. First, he explained everything very clearly and put my mind at ease. Second, the procedure went like clockwork and I actually had no pain. I’m so much more comfortable now, and I wish I’d had the procedure done sooner! The entire team at the Mugford Center is kind and knowledgeable, and I highly recommend them.
After years of dental anxiety and failure to visit a dentist, I finally booked an appointment and I was referred to a periodontist. I originally went to another provider who said I needed osseous surgery and an extraction + implant, which was going to cost an extortionate amount!I was recommended to get a second opinion and so visited The Mugford Center, which was the best decision I made!At my first appointment, Dr Bruce and Kelsey made me feel so at ease and relaxed and I did not feel the appointment was rushed at all. They were reassuring and instantly made me feel I was in good hands. They explained everything in so much detail and never made me feel guilty for not going to a dentist sooner! Best of all, they proposed an initial treatment plan which did not involve surgery or extraction – instead, they planned to use the latest technology with lasers and ozone.The treatment was so much easier than I expected and pretty much pain-free! The team spent time showing proper cleaning techniques to ensure the recovery was smooth and to prevent further issues and I learnt a lot from this.The follow up hygiene appointments with Emily and Gwen were equally fantastic and the whole team really make you feel so welcome and take away any dental anxiety. The treatment all worked well and I'm so happy to have a healthy mouth again – especially without losing any teeth!I can't recommend Dr Bruce and the rest of the team at The Mugford Centre highly enough!
Dr.Bruce has made me feel comfortable from the very 1st visit.I'm new to the area.Wasnt sure if I was going to allow Dr.Bruce to be my Periodontist.Onky because I had 2 choices .The other choice was IN NETWORK.Well after visiting the IN NETWORK Option hands down I had to go OUT of Network with Dr Bruce just to get a more QUALITY type Service!!!

I originally went to Columbia Center for Implants & Periodontics for a second opinion, and after a pretty disappointing experience there, I knew I needed to look elsewhere. He saved me from getting four teeth extracted unnecessarily. I only truly needed one extraction for an implant. Instead, he performed osseous surgery (I wasn’t a candidate for LANAP due to the advanced stage of my condition), and everything went incredibly well. I was sedated and didn’t feel a thing. The level of professionalism, honesty, and skill here is unmatched.If you’re looking for a periodontist not only in the Crofton area but in the DMV, Dr. Bruce is the one you want. I highly recommend Dr. John Bruce and his team, who truly deserve a 5-star rating. I underwent gum grafting to address gradual gum recession caused by my lower lip's attachment pulling on the gum over decades. The procedure itself was absolutely painless, and their methods kept me so relaxed that I actually fell asleep and dreamed during 99% of it! Recovery was smooth, with only slight soreness. By following their clear post-procedure instructions, I didn't even need pain medication. Dr. Bruce took all of my concerns very seriously and respectfully, and customized my treatment accordingly. Coming from a dental phobic person, have no fear if you need gum grafting from this provider.
Everyone is friendly and caring, very receptive to my questions and concerns. Being one of those in the “dental anxiety” class, I am always stressed about pain but Dr. Bruce and all the technicians have been very sympathetic to my concerns and repeatedly check with me during procedures for my level of comfort. The Mugford Center stands out as the leader in the industry. All of the staff are friendly, helpful and pleasant to do business with. I was fortunate to have Dr. Bruce help me with an extraction and implant this morning. The procedure was flawless. The best dental experience I have had. There is no residue from the procedure. I have no pain, swelling or discomfort, which I attribute to Dr. Bruce and his staffs expertise. I highly recommend the Mugford Center for your periodontic and implant needs. Excellent experience. Could not be happier the way I was treated. I was very scared going for an implant since my previous experience with a different oral surgeon was so awful. But Dr. Bruce and his assistant Laurie were simply wonderful.
The team here is amazing. I knew going in that I needed some heavy work done and was a little embarrassed. Very quickly I knew they were there to help resolve any issues that I had going on and any that may come up. Dr. Bruce made me feel comfortable and handled my surgery perfectly and felt no discomfort and has some great assistants, Kelsey, Kristin, and Emily made the experience laughable and honest. Thank you to the team here and look forward to a future journey of a healthy mouth. Would give 6 starts if I could.
