Is an Air Flosser a Dependable Way to Help Prevent Gum Disease?

Most people are constantly on the lookout for ways to improve their overall health and general wellbeing. This is especially true concerning oral health as so much of our social life and personal appearance is directly attached to our dental condition and how our smile looks. Unhealthy, inflamed, or bleeding gums can be a major dampener on our desire to get out and about. In addition to brushing, flossing has always been a highly recommended method of in-home, preventative oral care. While there are three main methods of practice; string flossing, water flossing, and air flossing, we wanted to take a close look at the third one; air flossing:
Does It Make You Floss More Often?
The first thing that matters is whether or not air flossing makes the entire process more convenient for you, and therefore means that you will do it more regularly. The fact is that even if something isn't necessarily as effective as something else, if you will do the less effective method regularly, as opposed to never doing the most effective method, you would still have far greater benefit with the less effective measure. But that isn't to say that air flossing isn't highly effective, as many people swear it is more advantageous than any other type of flossing. The short but powerful bursts of water and air help to break free the food particles trapped between teeth to effectively clean them and reduce the bacteria that would otherwise be spreading. That in itself is helpful in preventing gum disease.
