![]() The earlier kids learn about gum care the more likely they will be to incorporate taking care of their gums into their normal oral hygiene habits. As we all know, habits learned and enforced early in childhood are habits that you will most likely keep for the rest of your life. Gum Issues are Linked To Serious Health ProblemsSo what's the big deal with gums, anyway? Well they provide a solid foundation for the teeth and are a thin portal into the cardiovascular system. What this means is that when gums are infected with gum disease, it can have a very direct impact on your overall health.Gum disease is linked to diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular issues. When kids know that their gums are as important as their teeth, they can get a head start on taking great care of them. Easy Oral Health FixesThe biggest difference will be to brush and floss regularly. When a child brushes their teeth two times a day and flosses at least once a day, they are doing a tremendous amount of good for themselves in terms of oral health. If they were to adjust the way they brushed to accommodate and massage the gums, that would help even more.Addressing the Issue of DietThe other big difference that rarely gets talked about as much as it should, is diet. So many foods contain tremendous amounts of sugar in them today, and sugar is the biggest enemy to your children's oral health. Cut back on sugar and watch their gum health prosper! Please contact us if you have a questions about proper gum care. |
